February: A Month of Love, Hope, and History

As the second month of the year, it is known for being the shortest month—with 28 days, or 29 days in a leap year—yet it carries some of the biggest celebrations.

February includes special observances such as Valentine’s Day, Groundhog Day, and Presidents’ Day. It is also recognized as American Heart Month, encouraging us to focus on heart health and overall wellness. The month also features the zodiac signs Aquarius and Pisces, and its birthstone is the beautiful amethyst. But most importantly, February holds deep cultural significance as Black History Month in the United States—honoring the achievements, strength, and contributions of African Americans throughout history.

Celebrating Black History Month

For nearly 100 years, the nation has recognized and honored Black Americans during the month of February. This tradition began in 1926, when historian Carter G. Woodson, known as the Father of Black History, established a time to promote education and awareness of Black history and culture.The 2026 Black History Month theme is: “A Century of Black History Commemoration”, celebrating the 100th anniversary of this powerful national recognition. Let us celebrate Black excellence—not only in February, but all year long.

February may be short, but it is rich in love, purpose, and history. Our goal is to celebrate love always. We are ready for the season.
